A drain snake bores a channel through a clog, while hydro jetting uses pressurized water to clean the whole inside of the pipe. That difference is why a snaked drain can clog again within weeks and a jetted one often stays clear longer.
Snaking is a reasonable first step for a simple, single-fixture clog such as hair in a tub. Jetting makes more sense for grease, sludge, scale or roots, and for main lines where a snake leaves buildup on the walls. You can see how this plays out in residential drain cleaning and root intrusion removal.
Jetting is not right for every pipe. Cracked, collapsed or badly corroded lines may need a camera inspection first. Ask us to check the pipe before jetting and to explain the cost before we start. If you want to talk it through, call Minnetonka hydro jetting and describe what the drain is doing.
